Automobiles in Germany's Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Police
Authorities reported they were contacted by a resident who discovered a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Approximately fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.

Police state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.

The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.

Officers then found many other smeared vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Officials say initial examinations suggest the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; authorities are presently not aware of any injuries in association with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives stated they were working "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the community for tips.

An important political figure said the vandalism left him stunned and needed to be addressed promptly.

"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right attack in 2020," he posted on online, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
